Love 80’s movie , love the concept and monster designs but Jack Burton is an insufferable asshole, probably the most unlikeable lead charachter from my beloved 80’s movie era.
Blasphemy!

Preety sure I saw it as a kid but forgot about it except for little flashes . Maybe I am being a little harsh on the movie as a whole but Jack Burton is a dickhead . Give me Snake Plissken anyday , he is a bigger asshole but a cool one at that.

I rewatched Big Trouble and I still enjoy it, but my wife who had her first viewing found it boring. Maybe it's not for everyone, but to me it's one of those 80s movies have a soft spot for.

If I had a preference in film making it would be that people are a little lost and have to figure things out rather than stopping to explain it. There are more clever ways to show a world and characters than just telling the audience everything.

It's a personal preference, I can understand your point of view, but I don't share it.
Yup, I hate exposition as well. I prefer minimal dialogue and/or voiceover narration.

That was the whole point of the movie though. Jack was a delusional doofus version of your typical hero character in American movies and the Asian sidekick was actually the hero that could fight and think on his feet.
