Most new statues don't even sell out of the exclusive before it's released. My advice always just wait and see... If the exclusive does sell out then so be it, 9 out of 10 times the regular version is fine. It's pretty rare an exclusive is a must have extra portrait.

Quite true. I do wonder for those who are new to the hobby and buy based on a WYSIWYG mentality, but then, that's what the returns policy is for.

In this day and age where a simple google search on any product or company will get you all the information you need to make an informed decision, and where it is said right on the product page that "the final product may vary", at what point should consumers take responsibility for their purchasing decisions? Especially when we're talking frivolities like collectible statues, where the only impetus for purchasing these things is your own internal compulsions? That's why I roll my eyes at charges of manipulation. Take 5 minutes to search the product you're considering, and if that product isn't out yet, search older products and see how those came out.

All true! So, based on that, where did all the excitement come from when the prototype was shown? We all knew we weren't getting that.
But hey, we can go round this discussion for ever, nothing will change apart from people getting angry, and ultimately, it's not worth the blood pressure.
Buy it and enjoy it, buy it and don't enjoy it, or don't buy it at all.....what more is there to say?

I think a grail would be hard to come by. Difficult to attain. Doesn't "Grail" mean perfection? The epitome of the best circumstance? Highly sought. Exceptional craftsmanship for its time. Highly valued in the community.
Personal favourite has nothing to do with what the community regards as a grail, no?

Grail searches usually involve shrubberies and killer bunnies.

Using the term "grail" isn't much different than so many people saying a piece is a "must have".
None of these things are "must haves".

Wow .... you don't check a thread for a week and then come back to ....this
I measure Sideshow skin tone drops from proto to production by the Conan: Rage of the Undying PF .... similar style and piece to this Sonja actually.
Did it match the prototype? Not quite.
Was it acceptable? Yes, very much so to me.
I feel the same when looking at these production photos of Sonja. Pretty good and will look great on any shelf.
