Hot Toys Summer Showcase 2021

Who else is making new media that works in action figure form? We will being seeing figures from The Suicide Squad. But we’ll probably only get a few. It’s not like people will be clamoring for Rat Catcher 2 and Polka Dot Man. Hell, do people want Rick Flagg?

I’d love to see some new properties but there hasn’t been anything outside the D+ TV shows that Hot Toys already has licenses to do.

As for WB DC we won’t be seeing Black Adam, The Batman, Flashpoint and Shazam 2 for while as those are filming now. Flashpoint is a nippy to get some interesting variety of figures. But DC doesn’t sell that as shown in the pack of interest in Cyborg and no Mera.

I was hoping during the slump of new movies that Hot Toys would go after older licenses but those products don’t sell well as there is no current cross promotional hype to drive sales like new media. So we get a flood of obscure Mandalorian and Marvel characters (Iron Strange). Expect a bunch of a spider-Man figures from the next movie as we are certain to get multiverse versions.

Surely there are other properties that will sell more than Iron Strange?

A Jungle Hunter 2.0 (not the one from Predators) would be phenomenal. They already revisited Wolf Predator, and with all the buzz around Prime 1's Big Game Hunter and Jungle Hunter (1/3) they would be dumb not to capitalize on the hype.

Ripley from Aliens already had a solid prototype, surprised it hasn't gone up for preorder (although maybe Ripley from Alien wasn't a high seller?).

True there hasn't been many great films lately that warrant a figure, but I would gladly take a sir Gawain figure from the Green Knight, or the Green Knight himself.

Surprised we never got a Joker from them, though that may have more to do with DC than Hot Toys.
