As a company.... Wouldn't you?

If you don't want it, don't buy. If you wan't to go Pokemon on these Ironman HT figures and collect them all, you are probably glad they are out.

I think there are enough people out there that do like them and would like to own them.

To me, special editions are considered non cannon and not bought. Unless they really impress me that is.
If I wat them all, Ill just print out and cut out cardboard background of the other 40 Marks

Dammit - guessing this was available at STGCC. I was going to go and missed out on going in the end.

Although given the track record of these things, they're somehow sold out before the event. Seems to happen in Asia a lot!

Got hold of one of these and it is not a bad variant.

I also had the opportunity to look at the "competing" variant. The Play Imaginative Super Alloy Gold Version MKVII. It is not a patch on this (or any other HT Ironman).

It may be diecast, but it paint job is so flat that it looks like a cheap knock off. Like someone just spray painted it gold.

In general, I have that problem with all the Super Alloy figures - they just seem a bit flat. Realistically you can only tell they are diecast when you pick them up. Side by side the HT figures have more depth to their paint applications.

I still don't understand secondary market prices for Hot Toys figures.

Prices for the Midas version have ranged from $600USD to $900USD which is just insanity.

Guess it depends on how avid a collector you are or if you're a completist.

Just like it might not make sense to buy an exotic car that still achieves the same goal as a mass market car. Exclusivity has a price and to some a value as well.
