Captain Marvel's death was the single most poignant death in modern comics, over Supergirl (Infinite Crisis) or anyone else. Marvel should NOT mess with this.

Wktf (as usual ) hit the nail on the head. BUT...allow me to pose a hypothetical...what if he never really died?! What if Mar-Vell somehow overcame his illness, but Sentry made us all forget that he really survived?! What if the funeral was all a ruse?! The sad thing is, I can see something this contrived getting tossed around the House of Ideas.

all signs point to Mar-vell or Genis-vell maybe Thor but we all know he is coming back anyway. I love the original Mar-vell series but don't want to see him back , cmon Joe Q what happened to DEAD is DEAD

I for one hope it's Mar-vell! I was too young for his original adventures. I only knew him from 2 issues of The Incredible Hulk and The Death of Captain Marvel graphic novel. I recently read The Life of Captain Marvel trade & would love to see more!

Marvel should not bring back the original Captain Marvel just like they should not have brought back Norman Osborn. They should not have killed off Jean Grey! I'm sure one day she will return!
