I started a sketchbook for my son Thorian at this years HeroesCon (2019). I figure this is the best way for me to not go crazy adding Thor art to my collection while still compiling something for him as a gift when he gets older and is able to appreciate comics/comic art. He's only 8 months old so I still have some time, but I definitely had a lot of fun doing this. Being my first year at HeroesCon, it also allowed me to get art from a bunch of artists at fairly reasonable prices (relative to the prices these days).
I was fortunate enough to have my ticket drawn for Jose Luis Garcia Lopez's raffle on Friday. I thought this would be a pretty epic way to start his sketchbook off right!
Next up was Andrew Robinson. I follow him on IG and absolutely love his work and wanted to get a predone commission but didn't want to blow my whole budget before the convention even started. So I settled for a head sketch which still came out great.
Next up was an idea I borrowed from our very own JoeFixit and JadeGiant. I didn't want to collect a bunch of Katie's cards so asked if she could just do figures on the same page. The goal is to eventually fill the whole page up with Thors in various poses and incarnations. Throg is definitely my favorite.
Last but not least, this one's from Jacob Chabot. I was definitely pleasantly surprised with this as he filled the entire page with awesomeness. I was teetering on color v b&w and glad my cheapass ponied up the extra $10 at the end
