Gecco - Venom Snake Play Demo Version 1/6 scale
Venom Snake Play Demo Version from Gecco arrived today, courtesy of Sideshow. For a 1/6th
scale PVC piece it looks damn good. I don't tend to collect 1/6th scale statues, but from to time
i make exceptions. I picked up Venom Snake Play Demo Version as i missed out on the previous
Venom Snake from Gecco. I wanted a piece to pair with Quiet (also from Gecco). Besides i am
a massive Metal Gear Solid V fan. Maybe someday a 1/4 scale line will happen
(yeah right..)
Unlike Quiet who required a number of parts to be assembled, Venom Snake only requires the
collector to attach the base, attach an arm (of which there are 3 to choose from) and place a
cigar in this right hand.
For a 1/6th scale PVC piece i can't fault Venom Snake other than one small gripe: Gecco supply
3x cigar's in a snap out configuration, which means 3 tiny areas end up being unpainted - 2x
dots on the side, 1x dot at the end of the cigar. It might have made more sense to supply one
cigar fully painted. Compared to the prototype, the paint app looks more matte. Something else
i noticed, more in the photo than in person, there appears to be a slight seam running vertically
along the hair leading onto the beard (see last image).
The camouflage on Snake's trousers is very well done, as are many of the little details, such as
the small text on the arm, the silver Sony Walkman, the cable + earpiece, the eye-patch etc.
Venom Snake Play Demo Version has both plus and negatives compared to the previous Snake
from Gecco.
Positive - Snake's head horn is longer, which looks better
Negative - He does not ship with a gun
(atleast he ships with 3 arms )
Before unboxing the piece i could hear something rattling around inside the box. Gecco use clear
plastic moulded packaging. I was intrigued to find out what was causing the rattle? it turned out
to be one of the 3 arms. 2 of the arms sit firmly in the packaging. 1 of the arms does not appear
to have a place to sit, so it appears Gecco decided to have it loose between the outer plastic and
the box. They could have atleast put it in a plastic bad. Mine appeared to be damage free, as it's
PVC. I can only assume someone designed the plastic packaging with an oversight.
