American Gods

Seen the first 3 episodes of this & absolutely loving it!!

Never read the book although always wanted to. Don't know if I should now as it will spoil the show. Waiting on the Dark Horse series to be collected before buying

Ian McShane is magnificent as Wednesday , never recognized Cloris Leachman first time around & Peter Stormare is brilliant.

It looks brilliant although some of the CGI is dodgy such as the blood on hammer & I didn't expect it to be as sexually explicit as it is

Already ordered the steelbook

I've watched the 1st 3 & while I like it, for me, it really feels like the show is extremely heavy handed. Lots of shock for shock's sake & let's see how hip & cutting edge we can be. They're trying too hard. I'm already a bit bored by the show's antics.

Love the book. Leary about watching the show and waiting for more reviews to see if they do the book justice.

I've only seen the first episode, but I enjoyed it. The book is one of my favorites, so I hope the rest of the series does it justice.

Battle of the old gods vs the new I believe.

I loved Gillian Anderson's Lucille Ball BTW. Absolutely spot on
Should this thread be spoiler warning or free concerning the show & also no discussion from the book that could ruin future episodes? Mods?

I would watch at least just the 1st 2 episodes to see what you think. Can't do no harm, Empire Magazine gave it 5 stars

I have always held the belief that the only opinion that matters is your own don't rely on other peoples views/thoughts - either you're interested or not in something that has just come out. Further down the timeline is different when lots of word of mouth has spread, particularly thru friends

It's been a while since I read the book, but I'm pretty sure a lot of the scenes were lifted straight from the story. Then there was last night's episode, which featured Laura Moon's life and the specific events that led to her reunion with Shadow. I believe that, aside from a few key story points, most of that was an expansion on a few pages of the novel. I've been really enjoying the series and was excited to read that it's renewed for a second season.
