Details and tutorials on the details

I am getting pretty solid on my armatures and basic muscle form, but I am still in the dark as to how the details happen. clothing details, belts, weapons, logos on the shirts.
I think I saw something with use a pasta cutter and other such items as an extruder.

textures?
Any help in these areas would be great

When it comes to details it all depends on the sculpting medium...What are you using?

Here are some starters! The techniques can be transferred from one to another as long as the end result is believable.

Feather detailing:

Muscle and other detailing:

Mermaid detailing tool (I am not asking you to get it...just giving you ideas as to how this type of detailing is done)

For repetitive patterns you can make or buy texture stamps:

For texturing you could also create a digital pattern and have it laser engraved onto a piece of wood or acrylic sheet. You can then gently press it over a sheet of clay rolled out by a pasta machine.

For stitch lines you could use a tracing wheel:

Then there are tools like the ball stylus that you can use:

Check out face detailing and vein detailing tutorials online. They are available in abundance.

I'd suggest a lot of experimenting as detailing requirements always vary

God bless you!

Not that much... I've put up some breakdown pictures of my Batman Arkham City Diorama. That should give you a fair idea. Feel free to browse through my blog... I put some effort into breakdown shots so that someone can learn (my way of paying it forward...I learnt this craft from other people's breakdown/WIP shots and from Julian Khor's youtube videos)

Stenciling for batman's logo: http://barneyjoseph.blogspot.in/2012...g-is-over.html

Belts and straps of the henchmen: http://barneyjoseph.blogspot.in/2012...tial-bake.html

Batman's utility belt:http://barneyjoseph.blogspot.in/2012...t-grooves.html

To get a proper belt I would roll out a sheet with the required thickness and run a pizza cutter guided by a scale or a ruler.

Here's some different ones about textures... From "goregoregore.com" Browse through them once!

You can use some left over clay and press it onto anything that has your desired texture. Bake the left over clay and now you can use it on your sculpture as a texture stamp

For weapons, clothes, accessories, belts, armor etc I use aves apoxie over the sculpey it gives it great support as sculpey sometimes tends to crack.
