Anyone know a good camcorder?
I have a camera already and would like to get a camcorder for a trip. Would like one with optical zoom fairly high 30x to 40x or something and one that will shoot stills at a 9/10 or higher megapixels. And HD for sure. Don't need or care about Wi Fi to smartphone or that stuff. Looking at Sony HDR-CX240 (around $220) and JVC GZ-R70B (around $550)
The sony with projection don't care about and the camcorder with 2nd camera facing the shooter either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have no knowledge in this (and not much anywhere else).lol
Thank you very much for any response.

Best advice I can give is to get something compact and easy to use.
If it can fit in a coat jacket pocket, you're much more likely to take it out and use it. But if it's big and bulky and has to be carried in it's case in your back pack, then most of the time you just can't bothered getting it out.
At least that's my experience

i use a canon VIXIA HFM50
its decent and i use it for all my videos on my youtube channel. Its a decent size where it can fit into a jacket pocket or a backpack small pocket to snag out easy. Good to hold etc..
so far works out for me on my videos even tho i have not set up a good lighting section yet for the statues.

Looking at the Panasonic HC-V550K 50 X Optical zoom and 10 megapixels still picture. Bunch of other features. Pretty small/compact $319.

Not sure if you use a Apple computer with iMovie, but if you do make sure its on the list for compatible camcorders for it.
I had a panasonic before the canon and it would not load 1080 only iframe which was not good capturing.
If you got a good program to deal withe the uploads then I'm sure it will work out fine then.

Thank you so much V-V. I use iMovie quite a bit but never loaded from a camcorder. Only for making dvds from stuff off utube. I will check this out.

Just use this list to see if they one you want works with iMovie
http://help.apple.com/imovie/10/came...tml?lang=en_US
some will work but only at crappy settings, have to find one that uses the cameras full options is all
Converters suck, i have one with the camera i had before and it rip the video from the camera, convert to use in iMovie was a pain, Just find one that works with iMovie, its your best option.
