If you want to be able to tell if someone can sing, listen to a "real" live performance.

I do think that Aquilera is a capable singer.

Although I'm not really into her style, I don't think there's much doubt she's had the one of the best (if not the best) voice in music for almost 10 years. She's a gigantic talent vocally. Mark my words: She'll still be recording and selling records 30 years from now.
