JND's Superman and Clark are definitely on display at Shanghai Wonder Festival. My buddy just sent me a photo of them - presumably taken while the displays were being set up. Looking forward to seeing some regular people's photos of them (which will either make them look better....or worse. LOL).

But if that's how they want to roll with this, they are poisoning their own well. How many future customers are going to be scared of by their BS double NRD contingent on trusting the final production piece will be up to the level merited by their pricing?
Let's see how this works out for them in the long run.

While I feel sorry for anyone getting stung like this, and I find this change in policy (after the fact, both illegal and immoral) - I do hope something positive comes from this - and that we see an end to speculative buyers.....by that I mean, those who are pre-ordering the pieces, even when they dislike the prototype, but hope and pray for changes! - in my opinion, these types of buyer are poison for everyone!
I hope this policy change - forces people to buy what they see - because, if they change their mind, their deposit is going to get 100% eaten! I hope this also has a sobering effect on JND, and when they see their sales figures become more restrained, it might make them work harder on their products!

While I find it a bit strange that JND requires a NRD + an additional deposit (why not just make the entire deposit nonrefundable?), I agree that people should not order something with the hope that they improve it during production. The only hope we should have is to have production match the prototype. If you don't like the prototype, don't order it yet until you see the production.

He's working on updating all of that but keeps showing photos of this prototype version because he's trying to drum up sales. At the price he's asking, I don't think he'll get very many sales though - especially if he keeps showing this version with all of its flaws.
By the way, there is another version that has been worked on by an artist and it blows both the NDP and JND out of the water with its accuracy. It's a digital sculpt currently and I'm not sure if it will ever see the light of day in statue form. For an incredible display piece with superb accuracy that is hands down the best release we've seen in all the years that have passed since 1978, JND is the one for me. I'll happily upgrade if / when something better comes along, but I would absolutely hate to miss out on this piece, so I am looking forward to receiving mine.

Even with all the shortcomings of the lifecast, this headsculpt of CR from NDP is still far better than the JND's one, at least to me personally.
Its likeness gives the sense the immediacy and certainty. I can positively identify the character instantly. It is the difference between "It is CR for sure" and " I guess it is CR". That's what I and other collectors are paying for.
Glad to hear NDP is going to improve upon it further. Can't wait to see the final headsculpt.
Do share images of that incredible digital sculpt you've mentioned. I'd love to see it. Always good to have more options.

Agree. The NDP version doesn't have the hyper-realism of JND's statues. It is not their game at all.
But it has far better likeness. That's what I am concerned the most.

I look forward to seeing your photos of the NDP version when you get one in that case. I won't be swapping the JND head over for the NDP head, that's for sure.

Interesting reading all of these different takes. I think it looks great.
As for the NRD policy, does anyone read the boxes you are required to check before you can even check out?

When I saw people bringing up this issue, I thought I must have imagined seeing that when going through with the purchase. Your screencap shows it clear as day so I'll be amazed if anyone can get their money back after receiving the final payment email.
