I'm in for Bilbo at desk for $350. I have Gandalf and a Ringwraith from Weta's Classic line and really like them. The whole scene for $1,300 is outrageous and too space consuming.

The funny thing is, I think it’s too small to justify the price! I was in up to about $800. I don’t see a $1300 piece.

bad taste trying to gauge the true fans.

It does seem like a bit of a gouge, though if I was going to get it I would go for the whole thing, it really adds to it. They will still probably sell a ton of them.

Wow for that price you can ask for one of those professional hyper realistic Dioramas much better than that, bigger too, totally overpriced, tell you more, I don't liked, something on Weta pieces always looks a little weird to me.

Oooh I think you just edited 'amateur' to 'weird', and I was gonna give you a nagging because they are oscar winning film makers and certainly not amateurs
Yes, it's two or three hundred more than I was expecting, but if it's classed as a premium piece like the cave troll, I guess that's the price we're looking at for these kind of 'event' pieces. Of course they will still sell a lot of these, and I expect it to only increase in after market value.
This was one of my most wanted statues, so I may have to sell something to justify buying it.

Are Weta pieces done in-house or also mass-produced in China?

Interesting. I thought they were all done in house... Maybe it's just the box that was made in China? lol

I really like this piece, but when I saw that price it completely deflated my interest. Not to mention, I've seen some pretty mediocre paint jobs on some of their pieces.
