So then the question of whether or not he's a replicant would reemerge, being that Ford is 70+ years old. Personally I preferred the idea of Deckard being human but I know some people think it's a cooler twist/mystery with him being a machine. Even if he didn't have a 4-year life span, would a replicant age like a person? I guess same issue Terminator is dealing with with Arnold being back on board. I think some of these actors who still have power and name recognition don't like the idea of their iconic roles being recast (a la Kirk/Spock in Star Trek). For a new generation of movie goers those characters are now pretty solidly Pine and Quinto as opposed to Shatner and Nimoy.

I fully agree with that article. I want a Blade Runner sequel because I'd like to see that world fleshed out, not the mystery behind Deckard. Ford doesn't need to be in this and I think it would actually be a better film if it followed new characters.

If they are going to have Deckard in it at all, then make it as a reference only (to Blade Runner units) and that's it. I really want to go to Offworld and learn more about kick-murder squads. That was a whole part of the BR universe I always wanted to know more about.
