It has to be a licensing cost. Hell their G1 transformers are more complex than these, albeit they're a little shorter.

their G1 transformers are really overpriced imo, i kind of regret ordering optimus even though i love the statue. if unit 01 is 30" in that crouched down running position this is going to have tremendous presence and again that base... OMG

More complex looking, doesn't mean more complex to build and paint.

It's harder to achieve the perfectly smooth, candy coating paint job of the Evas. There's no room for error there. Any flaw will stick out immediately.

they really took the eva designs to the next level with all the little details, the more you look at it the more you see
