Why is it that Torchwood is shown on BBC America not long after UK transmission, but Doctor Who shown on another channel a number of weeks later?

Not a clue. We are just starting Season Two. I am sure we won't see the current Doctor Who episodes until they are done with the next Full Season.

PS - I love your new Banner. It smells like a JDH desing to me. For the record, I think I might be the skrull. (That's me on the far right of the banner, but you already knew that. )

Ah, behold the power of cheese...

No, actually, I think it's because of the American lead. If John Barrowman wasn't in it, I doubt that we would be getting such a rush on them. Plus, BBC America and Sci-Fi are owned by two different corporations, which may have something to do with it, as well.

Then there's always the possibility that because it's the Beeb America, that they have a better chance of getting episodes in a more timely manner from the Mother country.

(As a side note, and I'm going to check into this, but it could be that BBCAmerica is owned by CBS, which also owns the Logo network for gay and lesbians. If so, then I can understand their pushing to have those episodes as soon as possible. CBS, for not having any gay characters on their mainstream shows, is very sensitive to programming that appeals to that demographic, and TW is burning up the gay entertainment websites.)

U.S. fans of Billie Piper (Doctor Who's Rose Tyler) can see her on PBS's Masterpiece Theatre presentation of Mansfield Park.

I was flipping the channels last night and spotted her on PBS. Almost missed her without the tons of make-up.

Indeed, and that's me next to you, though I guess you also knew that.

Ruby In The Smoke is great fun. There's also another Sally Lockhart story been filmed and was shown in the UK over Christmas, Shadow In The North. Hopefully, the next book in the series will also be adapted.

Here's more to add to your confusion, Johnathon. Torchwood airs on BBC America really soon in comparison to Doctor Who. My dilemma stems from the fact that about two weeks after the episode airs on BBCAm, it's run on HDNet.

I honestly don't know which one to set my DVR for. The HD stuff looks -amazing-.

Obviously, it's not something that affects me, but that just seems to make no sense. Not that the entertainment industry often does make sense.
