Tom Cruise is short as hell too (5'7", at best) and he never looks that short in movies. There are many ways to deal with the issue - never mind that, once in costume, the actor can be anyone, of any height.

Exactly. Marvel is portraying Spidey as a kid. While his performance remains to be seen, this guy fits the bill just fine.
