The other thing that keeps crossing my mind, is why would Sideshow (who heavily advertises their PFs and comiquettes as evidenced by the other 4 banners) put such huge emphasis on advertising for a 1/6 scale figure?

Wouldn't be shocked if they have another big PF up for order with the Joker. It's most likely not a 1/6 figure, it would be against what they have been doing for the past years by only putting the big boys on the banners.

Maybe it was wishful thinking that is 1:6 scale on carrillj part cos he didn't want it to outshine his Joker museum piece?

Yeah would be interesting if they go with a switch out head and a more Jim Lee look.
As long as the Ex is not a lousy print only : P

I think it makes perfect sense for SS to release the Joker. It's a pretty bold statement which sends the message "we're the best at what we do". I imagine that's aimed for DC Direct's (now defunct, most likely) museum line too.
I'm sure we'll see some owners of the DC Direct Joker come out and say their Joker is the best ever, even without seeing the SS version. We saw the same thing when SS began producing Marvel pieces Bowen produced earlier too.

Now that I think about it, I'd love for Sideshow to hold off on doing Batman or Superman right away. Do another hero like Green Lantern or Flash and then a couple more villains like Darkseid or Luthor and then release Batman or Superman.
