Question Clear/translucent putty

Hello every one,
I'm looking for a translucent putty to use as a base for a statue..I want to put LED lights under the base to make a glowing affect..
its going to be big..like 6-12 inches wide and 4 inches tall..almost pyramid shaped.
The top of the base is going to be painted to blend-in the statues bottom,
I want to shape it/sculpt it to match..kinda like a dress.
So.. I looked on line and cant find any putty's/clay's any one help.. its my first sculpt of sorts

Here's my thread of my project if you need more info: http://www.statueforum.com/showthread.php?t=127781

Have you considered casting the part with clear resin?

I agree. If understand what you are trying to achieve, I would think your best approach would be to sculpt the base as you normally wold, make a mold, and then cast it in clear resin. Good luck. I really like what I've seen so far and look forward to seeing your finished work.

I'd like to paint this one up (that's my primary area of expertise).

Never heard of a clear putty. Everything I've seen done in clear was cast that way.

Closest thing I can think of to clear putty would be Woodland Scenics "water effects". I've only ever used it to create icicles and such, not sure how much control you can have over trying to sculpt with it. It's about toothpaste consistency out of the container.

Experience is the best teacher, but Smooth-ons site is a close second.

The best thing about their site is that since they manufacture just about anything you could want. Not only is it all available in one place but they have answers to all of the compatibility issues.

When you start combining different systems from different companies you run into more questions than answers and of course if there's a problem each company's tech support will blame the others product.
