I think the actual reason is you can’t do a clear dome in smoke form without it sticking out like a sore thumb. The only way it’d fit with the visual concept would be to elimainate it being clear and that would look even worse because it’d obscure that excellent face sculpt.

The sharply defined specular highlights on the glossy surface of the clear plastic would definitely be at odds with the mood the rest of the piece is trying to create.
But it is so much of the identifiable image of the character that you can't not include it.
IMO, however nice the face sculpt may be, the face itself is subservient to the proper image of the character as a whole.
So you would either need to finely sand the outer shell to diffuse it, or else spray it with several layers of a matte finish.
I don't know if the latter alone would be enough. might need to do both.
If I were in the market for this, I'd be much more tempted by the "smoke" version. Like some others have said, the color looks too busy to me and a little cheap.
The nice thing about the smoke version, it would probably look killer with some UV LEDs. If I were going o be spending this much on a statue, I would absolutely kick in another $300-$500 for a proper display case, and also take pains to come up with a nice lighting configuration inside it.
Maybe a soft key spot for Batman, a colored light for behind, and maybe some UVs for bottom and top in front.
