This feels a little strange, but here goes...
(BTW, let this be a public service announcement to all, having too much time on your hands is a bad thing.)
I've been reading comics since the mid-seventies and started collecting a few years after that. Mostly Marvel titles, some DC, very few alternates and with special emphasis on team books. I gave up collecting back around 1998, but have never stopped buying whatever was interesting. Favorites have been Iron Man, X-Men, Teen Titans and the Avengers.
About three years ago, family obligations kept me from working full-time and shortly thereafter I started buying and collecting statues. It kept me busy and at first, I guess, it also served as a pleasant distraction. While I had run across Statueforum before, through one of my many comic related internet searches, it was only after I started actively collecting statues that I signed up as a member. The place has been a way for me to get information on upcoming pieces, talk about comics, and get a bit of social interaction despite being at home.
As for the incredible knowledge, well I must admit google and a good scanner have helped immensely. Since the first edition of the Marvel Universe series and the DC Who's Who, I've always felt like they were doing them just for me. While I could never buy every comic, these encyclopedia-like books let me catch up on what I had missed. I enjoy the discussions on the forum as everyone brings a different perspective and there are many people on here who truly do have an incredible archive of comic book wisdom.
