  • FORTY SHADES OF BLUE (Trailer) (Official Site)

    Source: Movie Web

"Forty Shades of Blue" tells the story of Laura, a young Russian woman living in Memphis with a much older rock n’ roll legend, and the personal awakening she experiences in the wake of her unfortunate affair with his estranged son.

Alan James is a legend in Memphis, a white man who produced black music back in the 60's and 70's, the heyday of Memphis Soul. Now in his later years, he’s still living the high life in a comfortable house in the right part of town.

Alan lives with his girlfriend, Laura, a Russian beauty he met on tour in Moscow. Laura spends most of her time alone or raising their three-year-old son, Sam. A stranger in Memphis, she lives an easy, alienated life.

Alan also has a grown son, Michael, with whom he has a complicated relationship fueled by jealousy, disappointment and anger. When Michael returns home for the first time in many years, the initial hostility he radiates towards his father's "girl" develops into something much more, and a messy, dangerous affair ensues.

In the bars and bedrooms of this very contemporary city, a love triangle forms, illuminating the hearts and souls of these three tangled lives.

  • THE GREATEST GAME EVER PLAYED (Trailer) (Official Site)

In the tradition of “Remember The Titans,” “The Rookie” and “Miracle,” from Walt Disney Pictures comes a real-life story of a long-shot dream that came true. THE GREATEST GAME EVER PLAYED, based on Mark Frost’s best-selling book, is the remarkable yet untold story of Francis Ouimet. Francis was a working-class immigrant kid who -- flanked by a 10 year-old caddie smaller than his golf bag -- started with nothing and came out of nowhere to break down the barriers and become America’s first golf hero nearly a century before Tiger Woods. In a world where it was believed only the wealthy and privileged could play, and win, at golf, it took an outsider to change the rules forever and prove that anyone with enough courage, grit and faith could achieve greatness.

It all came to a head at the 1913 U.S. Open. Suddenly, Francis found himself in an ultimate showdown of skill and spirit -- he, the unknown upstart American, facing off against Harry Vardon, a U.S. Open winner and six time British Open champion (a record that still stands today) who was the sport’s undisputed champion. One was a towering idol, the other an impossible underdog -- and their legendary battle would transcend sport to become an illustration of human determination at its best.

Bill Paxton directs this inspirational tale drawn from one of the most unexpected victories in history, bringing his own innovative visual perspective to the game of golf, reframing the 18-hole match-up as a riveting Western showdown between two scrappy gunslingers.

THE GREATEST GAME EVER PLAYED stars Shia LaBeouf (“Holes,” “Constantine”) as Francis Ouimet, the Massachusetts kid who, just three years after starting as a lowly caddie, found himself in all-out fight for the U.S Open title. Stephen Dillane (“The Hours”) stars as Harry Vardon -- the genteel British champ who never expected to be challenged by a young American. The screenplay is by Mark Frost who wrote the acclaimed book of the same title, bringing to life the colorful characters of golf’s early history.

In 1913, a 20 year-old kid named Francis Ouimet unexpectedly became an overnight American hero. In an electrifying standoff at golf’s U.S. Open, he stunned American audiences by proving that golf wasn’t just a game for the country club elite but a sport in which any American -- no matter how youthful, how poor or how unknown - could aspire to triumph. It was to become one of those rare defining moments in sports history. Inspired by Francis Ouimet, the infant sport of golf soon exploded into one of America’s most popular past-times and a source of dreams for numerous young heroes-in-the-making, all the way up to Tiger Woods and Annika Sorenstam.

  • INTO THE BLUE (Trailer) (Official Site)

    Source: Movie Web

Hold your breath as Paul Walker (The Fast and the Furious) and Jessica Alba (Sin City) star in Into the Blue, a tense, exciting underwater action/adventure set in the dangerous, shark-infested waters of the Bahamas.

When four young free divers come upon a legendary shipwreck -- rumored to contain millions in gold -- they believe their dream of buried treasure has come true. But nearby, on the ocean floor, they unearth another, more sinister, mystery. The fortune-hunting friends make a pact to keep quiet about both discoveries so they can excavate the shipwreck before a rival treasure hunter discovers their secret and beats them to the gold.

But with so much at stake, their loyalties are tested. Facing hidden dangers at every turn, the hunters suddenly become the hunted.

In less than 60 feet of water, the world's oceans hold over $6 billion in treasure … still waiting to be found.

Hurricane season in the Bahamas brings both destruction and deliverance. Most islanders fear the wild winds and incessant rains. For undersea treasure hunters, though, the hurricanes can be a blessing. Their powerful waves churn up the ocean bottom, lifting years of sand and possibly exposing gold-laden galleons long buried among the reefs.

Jared Cole (Paul Walker) is a part-time treasure hunter with a leaky boat who dreams of striking it rich in the clear turquoise waters off New Providence. His girlfriend, Samantha “Sam” Nicholson (Jessica Alba), has already realized her dream, working as a shark handler at a resort while living with Jared in a threadbare trailer on an idyllic tropical beach.

The happy couple’s lives are unalterably changed when Bryce Dunn (Scott Caan), Jared’s childhood friend and a successful New York attorney, comes to Jamaica with his new girlfriend Amanda Collins (Ashley Scott). Bryce acquires a beautiful mansion and a luxury yacht that the quartet puts to good use as a party boat as they free dive around the island.

The merriment takes a serious turn when Jared finds evidence of an ancient shipwreck. The four friends decide to partner as they search for enough relics to identify the old ship and claim it as their own.

Then, on a later dive, they uncover another, more ominous wreck nearby.

Jared and Sam want no part of this dangerous new discovery, but Bryce and Amanda see it as a way of financing their expedition. Jared realizes the money would help him compete on the same level as the islands’ top salvagers, especially his longtime rival Derek Bates (Josh Brolin) and his assistant, Quinn (Chris Taloa).

Sam convinces Jared to abandon any plans for taking advantage of this new treasure. But Amanda and Bryce have other ideas. Sneaking out in the dead of night, the two steal some of the cargo with a scheme to profit from it, using a shady nightclub owner, Primo (Tyson Beckford), as their connection.

Bryce and Amanda have miscalculated, however, and find their lives in jeopardy unless they deliver the entire shipment to Primo. When Sam finds out, she turns to a friend and local policeman, Roy (Dwayne Adway), for help.

Now, what began as a carefree treasure hunt turns into a deadly battle and Jared and Sam’s innocent world is thrown into chaos.

  • SERENITY (Trailer) (Official Site)

JOSS WHEDON -- the Oscar and Emmy-nominated writer/director behind the global phenomena of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel -- makes his feature film directorial debut with the science-fiction western adventure Serenity.

The film is based on Whedon’s critically acclaimed, short-lived television series Firefly, which aired on the FOX TV Network during the fall of 2002. Set in a futuristic, post-Earth universe dominated by a planetary Alliance, the series chronicled the adventures of the ragtag spaceship Serenity and her eclectic crew of outcasts, led by Captain Malcolm “Mal” Reynolds, played by NATHAN FILLION. Although FOX TV cancelled the show after only 11 of the 14 produced episodes had aired, Firefly’s quirky mix of humor, complex characters and sci-fi had attracted a loyal and passionate following.

In this world we find Mal (NATHAN FILLION), a soldier on the losing side of a galactic civil war, who now ekes out a living pulling off small crimes and captaining the transport-for-hire ship Serenity. He leads a small crew who are the closest thing he has left to family: his second-in-command Zoe (GINA TORRES); Zoe's pilot husband Wash (ALAN TUDYK); the mercenary Jayne (ADAM BALDWIN) and ship's mechanic Kaylee (JEWEL STAITE) who together provide Mal the opinionated, insubordinate and ultimately loyal mates he needs to survive in the outlands.

Threatening their survival are two of the most formidable enemies: first, the establishment known as the Universal Alliance (those on the winning side of the war); and second, the horrific, cannibalistic Reavers -- savages who roam the edges of space. The crew find themselves trapped between the Alliance, who seeks to bring order -- wanted or unwanted by their subjects -- to these various planets, and the Reavers, who seek wanton chaos and destruction.

Further complicating matters for Mal are the beautiful courtesan Inara (MORENA BACCARIN), a woman who alternately inspires and infuriates him; Shepherd Book (RON GLASS), a preacher who challenges Mal to the fullest; and two mysterious passengers: the young doctor Simon (SEAN MAHER) and his unstable, telepathic sister River (SUMMER GLAU). Her talents long-used by the Alliance, she possesses dangerous secrets buried so deeply, even she doesn’t know what they are.

That's it for this week...
