When will the Original Art prices be effected by the U.S. economy?
I've noticed that the news keeps saying everyone is screwed. The Original art prices have not been hit at all. Is this something that is going to change and prices will drop. You would think that since there are over 1000 new pages pumped into the market every month that it might drop.

Well, one way it's been affected already is all the collectors across the water. With the US dollar being so weak right now, folks over seas are snatchin up a ton of art. That'll have an impact in years to come I think. I doubt it'll affect the OA market in terms of value any time soon. The type of people buying the big ticket items are not going to be bothered by the standard ups and downs of the economy. That's my opinion anyways.

Hey Chris,
Good point about the overseas purchasers and the weaker US dollar! As one of those overseas collectors, I'm enjoying the fact that the Aussie dollar is almost 1 for 1 with the US dollar!
I'm used to paying around 40-50% more for my comic art but at the moment I've been able to make some extra purchases because it's been more affordable Best,
Royd

It's true, as long as you ship overseas. My last two sales were in Europe.

Yeah, I must admit that I find it somewhat frustrating when some ebay sellers refuse to accept foreign bids for genuine (previously burned) or what I think are spurious reasons (can't be bothered with extra packaging etc.).
In those situations, I just ask a friend in the US to bid on it for me and I pay him for any extra costs he incurs.
Thank goodness, I haven't yet come across a dealer who won't ship to overseas buyers. Best,
Royd

I was expecting prices to drop as well but that stimulus check might be keeping some collectors in the game.

I was hoping it would continue to go down so that I could finally afford some big splash pages.

Any of you overseas buyers want to buy some stuff for me since things are getting so comfortable for you?
