this is 40 - 7/10. Another movie with a weak first half but a very strong second half. woke up on the second half of the movie and thought it was one of the funniest i've seen in a while. went back and caught the first half which was just meh.
jack ryan - 6.5/10. worth a rent if there is nothing around. not a terrible movie just some really ridiculous scenarios in it.

Flight - 7/10
Denzel Washington proves once more he is without question one of the best actors working today. He elevates what is a pretty straight forward narrative about a functional alcoholic battling through a tragedy to a compelling portrait of one man's struggle with addiction and denial. Robert Zemeckis knows how to pull you into a good character drama. Even though the pace of the film is slow I never once felt disconnected from the film.

Before you criticize someone, you should walk a mile in their shoes. That way, when you criticize them, you're a mile away and you have their shoes.

Vikingdom (2013) - 6/10 - Caught this on SyFy yesterday & got sucked in. One of those so bad it's great kinda films. The fight sequences were actually pretty fun & the story was ok. Over the top, fimed in E. Europe kinda vibe. What can I say, sometimes cheese is fine.

47 Ronin - 6.5/10
The first 25-30 min. of this film I thought to myself... "wow, this is gonna be great!" Now don't get me wrong I enjoyed the film, it just didn't go in the direction I wanted or live up to it's full potential. The narrative becomes overly cliché and maybe just a bit too fantastical for my taste in the second half, though admittedly I did admire the direction it took in it's ultimate conclusion. Worth a look for fans of Samurai or medieval and early-modern Japan.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. The story was basic but engaging enough and I just enjoyed going along for the ride.

This is one of those movies that I've really been looking forward to seeing, yet haven't built up too much expectation. Seems that may have been wise. I'll get around to it soon.
