Gentle Giant Ltd. gets Marvel license

Well Gentle Giant Ltd. tried launching their brand new webiste yesterday.....it's not all the way up but when it goes up, it will ge www.gentlegiantltd.com (the old one is still up right now) and they announced a new license....

They showed banner art of Captain America by Ed McGuiness from the variant cover of Captain America #25 (current volume). There is a section titled MINI BUSTS but it still showed empty during the brief time the site was up yesterday.

With Sideshow, Kotobukiya and Bowen already doing many higher end Marvel collectibles, it will be interesting to see what Gentle Giant comes up with....even if it's super late.

They'll probably do a lot of animated caricatures, which could be fun. Their animated Star Wars line certainly is.

The site was kind-of up for a little while and they had a Marvel section with the banner being Ed McGuiness art from Captain America #25 (current series). Under the banner they had a section for Mini-busts.

So that leads me to believe that it will be mini busts but with Bowen having the license for that, it will be interesting.....I do wonder if it will be movie mini busts.

A little healthy competition. I wonder what scale license are they getting? Somebody maybe on the outs

It's too bad DC isn't done by other companies. You would think they want to market there fan base from multiple distributors and producers.

Something to remember, GG has a Disney license, so now that Marvel is owned by Disney, I have a feeling we are going to see GG making movie based Marvel products. Not too thrilled about it, but it makes sense.

I'm with you on not being thrilled by them taking this because of their crappy handling of their products, shady customer service and crappy quality control...

But when they bring their best.....they are good. I want to say I hope they bring their A game but I am tired of being disapointed by GG all these years....we'll just wait and see.

This is interesting. I hope they have improved.

I wasn't impressed by their X-Men 3 movie busts for Diamond Select. The paint jobs were subpar and the likeness was way off from the actors.

But I loved their Matrix movie busts. I have the Persephone one.

Whose fault is that though, I'd say it's Marvels...

Here's hoping they don't do like so many of the other movie based collectibles have been done in the past, with big ugly bases that more often than not have the movie name integrated into it. Screw that, just give it a simple base and let the sculpt doing the talking.
