By the way, there are already a horror game and a horror movie announced featuring said version. After Winnie the Pooh and now this, looks like this is what we're going to get every time an old character falls into public domain.

After a lost generation I'm glad we get to see IPs go into the public domain again.

Disney largely built itself on the back of public domain and then hated it once it came for their own creations.

Oh, absolutely.

This past year saw multiple versions of Pinocchio. Some were meh (Disney) some were terrible (Pauli Shore??) and some were great (Del Toro).

That's the nature of creation and has been. We just had this era where we were fixed due to lobbying. Sherlock Holmes has had so many versions because of it and I'm glad we can see the full spectrum for characters that have been hoarded by media conglomerates long after the creators have passed.
