Does that mean we could all make and sell t-shirt's featuring Mickey Mouse without fear of prosecution?

Only of the Steamboat Willie version.

By the way, there are already a horror game and a horror movie announced featuring said version. After Winnie the Pooh and now this, looks like this is what we're going to get every time an old character falls into public domain.

Friends of mine who?ve seen the Winnie The Pooh horror film said it?s hysterically funny but also gruesomely bloody.

Just because you can make something doesn't mean you should

After a lost generation I'm glad we get to see IPs go into the public domain again.

Disney largely built itself on the back of public domain and then hated it once it came for their own creations.

This right here.

I'm a Mickey Mouse fan and don't need a bunch degenerate wannabe filmmakers trying to cash in on their own attempts at irony.
No interest in Disney's financial gains or losses.

This past year saw multiple versions of Pinocchio. Some were meh (Disney) some were terrible (Pauli Shore??) and some were great (Del Toro).

That's the nature of creation and has been. We just had this era where we were fixed due to lobbying. Sherlock Holmes has had so many versions because of it and I'm glad we can see the full spectrum for characters that have been hoarded by media conglomerates long after the creators have passed.
