If you're a fan of the Marvel Vs. SF or Capcom and the character, get the Mech (don't think it was called Mecha, but I haven't played the Vs. games in awhile). If you're an SF fan first and foremost, go with the regular. If you just like having Ex's, get the Mech. If you like everything Zangief and have cash to spend, get both.
For me, the regular is the only way to go. The Vs. series is great but isn't really part of the true SF universe.

Keep your Mecha. It's not worth getting rid of it right away. Hold onto it for a while, then down the road, sell it when you're ready (if you're not happy.)

Buy the Mecha sell the Mecha and get the regular one for free with your money from the Mecha... Problem solved and you will be happy getting a free statue.
