$70.00 MSRP. Are you kidding me?

Just saw this Flash (Heroes of the DCU) in Previews.

Looks cool, but not for $70.00

DCD lost me as a customer on this line.

I went to a general store. They wouldn't let me buy anything specifically.

I got the already-released GL bust for $28 on eBay, so I'm sure the Flash bust will also be available for cheap at auction soon. I'm not surprised at some of the high retail prices for DC Direct merchandise. Some of the things they've been releasing, like the JLA statues for $200, are just way too much. You'd have to be nuts to pay retail for any of them when they show up for so much cheaper on eBay in no time at all. I'd be complaining about the $90-100 price point for some of Bowen's latest mini busts, but I haven't come close to having to pay that much for one.

I appreciate what those picking these up on ebay for cheaper are saying but I am with cblakey. DCD should not be pumping this stuff out at grossly inflated prices in the first place.
Some are going to get stuck with the high priced pieces that either have no secondary market value or hurt the LCS owners. Other times it is a catch 22 as you get the piece on ebay for 40-50% off retail but shipping puts it close to the LCS price plus you have to wait and will have limited recourse and additional headaches if there is damage.

Who actually pays original retails these days? Some LCS will give you a discount when you order from them. Various online sites will give you a discount. Even EBay sells new items for less. $70 MSRP would me more like $50 on the average on various discounts.

People who get "stuck" with high priced pieces deserve it. They obviously think it's worth $70 to them if that's what they decide to spend on it.

I'm not gonna feel sorry for the LCS, either. Nobody is putting a gun to their head and telling them to sell it for $70. Heck, one of my LCS actually marks UP some statues and then they sit in the store forever. The Sideshow Indiana Jones PF was marked up by over $100 the week of release. They were selling it for $400!

$70 is a suggested price. Dealers are not paying $70 from Diamond. Probably more like $35-$40. If your LCS is charging $70, buy it elsewhere, because someone is selling it for less.
