It's interesting that this gradual development is exactly as portrayed in the movies/Sci fi books(Asimov's chronicles of the robot I Daneel, A.I, Terminator, Animatrix)...Let's hope things don't end like they do in the movies

when you think about it this technology will probably be what leads to drastically lengthened lives rather than some fountain of youth drug that slows aging. Figure out a way to eradicate decay of the mind and they can just stick you in a cyborg. Its freaky stuff but will probably be totally realized provided some natural disaster or man made virus doesnt wipe out the planet first. I think robotics in that application is far more exciting than the prospect of having some slave.
Too bad we wont live to see it.
