No, I certainly won't be okay. That would be as ridiculous as an Indian playing Batman. Or an American playing the Ancient One (wait... that already happened). Or ScarJo getting the lead in Ghost in the Shell.
I certainly would like to see more Indian actors getting parts in mainstream Hollywood projects. But I prefer them to be original characters. Or at least race-appropriate ones in case of established characters.
When they take a beloved, established,
lead character and race-swap them without rhyme or reason, it
disappoints me. Doesn't matter if the part is given to someone from my country, my state or my high-school class.
I have no problem with any actor, just the depiction. Characters like Thanos or Gamora can be played by anyone because their depiction doesn't change, thanks to CGI. I don't think they're gonna go that route with Ariel.
Finally, speaking of the red hair, it was supposed to be Ariel's natural hair color (unlike, say, Joker's green hair). Hair dyed red on a dark-skinned actor just wouldn't look natural.
