They probably should have waited to make the announcement until after Blade Runner comes out to see how it's received. I guess they are leveraging from the critical success of Arrival that I found overrated.

Villeneuve will rock it! cant wait! He was always telling people who wanted to dircet that movie. now that he is. I need to be part of the VFX crew. I need Dune in my portfolio

Really? I thought Arrival was a well done film with a thought-provoking premise similar to Inception in some ways.
Have a tremendous amount of confidence that he can direct Dune with the proper treatment.

this is one remake that might actually surpass the original...which probably wouldnt be hard to do, the original is pretty rough, even David Lynch disowned it
