Baseball - Which is the greater achievement.
Disregarding the personalities involved (assume that no steroids were involved) which is the greater achievement? CY Young’s 511 victories as a pitcher or Barry Bonds home run record. For me its got to be Young’s record especially when you consider he pitched more than 7 innings per game unlike starting pitchers of today who at most will pitch 6 innings.

Cal's streak, and Petes streak mean more to me as a fan. Those guys gave it their all!
good call on Cy though...modern era pitchers cannot compare!

Of the 2..?...Cy Young by far...But I don't think Bonds record will last long if A-Rod stays healthy...The record I think will stand the test of time is Nolan Ryan's 7 No-Hitters...

Has anyone ever got close to striking out all hitters in one game?

Good question... Not many pitchers complete games anymore... I'll give your question a search...

i think 31 pitches
3 pitches per team per inning
all fly or ground outs
1 home run
game called after 5 innings due to rain
55 if 9 innings
