Of those two I would think it would be Steve Carlton, but since I almost always guess wrong on 50-50 propositions I am going to guess Seaver? As to how many the record is I would doubt it is more than 8 but don't want to start guessing on that.

Wow! It would be interesting to know if he also struck out the first or first X number of batters he faced in the next game, and if so, if it would count as the "consecutive strikeouts" record?

The HR total - Cy Young played in a such a different era that comparing his stats to other pitchers really is not a fair comparison. Plus wins is influenced so much by managers and teams. HRs on the other hand are a perfect lone stat for comparison purposes. And, while baseball parks and situations have changed, the dynamics of a HR are still what they used to be.
