The 15 (or 16)...a continuation in the change of philosophy.

Well, there was a good reception to that thread and I think a needed part of what I do collecting art. It has been almost a quarter century now since I bough my first piece!

Now comes phase two (after embracing the new philosophy) of limiting whom I buy from. I have a list of 15 (even though I may push it to 16) artists that I want to continue collecting. This way I can have an organized and coherent collection. Everything else in the portfolios is going to be sold starting essentially now. Now this does exclude gifts from artists that didn't make the top tier. I wouldn't feel right about that.

It will also exclude buying legendary things like Kirby, Ditko, Heck, etc. unfortunately they are no longer with us to collect on an easy level.

It may seem extreme and limiting but this will effectively keep me focused and I think maximize the quality per piece. Should be exciting going forward.

Not sure what thread you're referring to but I agree with having a solid focus for your OA want list.

I typed up a word document with every artist I would want art from and from what series. I have very specific goals/wants for some of the artists (the main ones I collect). It's helped me keep focused and turn down a handful of pieces that are tempting, but not main wants for the collection.

I have a ridiculously focused want list for commissions/con sketches also.

You will notice that these are almost all people I am friends with and see/talk to often. The friendship thing means more than the work. Even though the work is nice.
