On the one hand I agree, but on the other hand he and his agent may have hurt their own market by selling little prints of licensed DC stuff and selling them cheap at conventions...this kind of pissed off DC and Clampett.
I also feel like with most of this stuff, you need to "strike while the iron is hot". Its been a long time since he did anything for Wonder Woman.
Another gallery and I were begging for them to do an inexpensive litho of Turner's work, but he would do the same thing at his booths...selling 11 x 17 color copied prints that he would sign for around $40. What incentive is there to then shell out $100 or more for a high quality signed (officially licensed) litho or small giclee?
He's another artist that baffles me a bit. I'm not overly impressed with the art...I guess the fanboys just like the super-skinny-sexy-chick thing or whatever.
The best giclees are those that reproduce PAINTINGS, not line art. Turner doesn't paint...its all digital color. The same thing with Hughes! I know he can paint, though...he did an incredible piece for the art auction in Charlotte this year. I wish he would do more. Jim Lee also...though he did some incredible water color "wash" pieces in the HUSH story arc. He also did some fantastic pieces in the Wizard Millenium hardcover featuring his work. I wish he would do more of that!
Time to step down from the "soap-box"...
