I think the choice for the movie role is from left field. I've seen The Perks and woukd never had thought any of the cast would be chosen to play a flagship character in a CBM. I've only seen the Flash Pilot and while he seems to be good it's too early to say whether he would be a movie star.

I would rather seem them integrated to allow each medium to feed off of and work with each other. Say what you want about the quality of the tv show SHIELD, it is need to see what happens in a Captain America movie impact the tv show.

I wonder what Flash he is playing? Is he supposed to be Barry or someone else?

I personally see it as a missed opportunity but in the end it's probably not such a big deal. Obviously Marvel's A. O. SHIELD is a good example of how it can go wrong and add little to nothing to a shared universe. I know that series has it's fans but nothing that has happened there is essential to the shared universe IMO, it's all reactionary to bigger events from the films and doesn't offer much in the way of original ideas.
Now I haven't watched The Flash TV series yet but based on the quality of Arrow I see no reason why creating one shared DC Universe through two mediums couldn't prove to be advantageous. Personally if they weren't going to combine them I wish they'd have left characters with film plans like The Flash alone. The chances of Green Arrow making an appearance on film (especially a standalone adventure) was always slim to none which makes him a perfect candidate to develop through television and then drop him into an ensemble pic like Justice League. Something like that certainly would have gone a long ways in bridging the gap between the two mediums.

He was awesome in Perks of Being a Wallflower. I gave that movie a 9/10. We Need To Talk about Kevin wasn't bad either although I thought he looked too obviously sinister for the role of bad seed Kevin. 7/10

Essential events aren't supposed to happen in the TV show. That's what the movies are for. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is like the Civil War Front Line series to the Civil War main title that are the Marvel films. Big events like Spider-Man publicly revealing his identity doesn't happen in the Civil War tie-in book, it is saved for the main title.

I get that, not really the point I was trying to make. I don't actually expect major Marvel events to happen within the confines of the tv series but if it's going to hold my interest it needs to offer something original outside the aftermath of said events. In that regard they have failed miserably.
