Recent Photos I've Taken.

So.. was gonna go surfing today, but because of that FB fiasco, I didn't feel up to it; I took my camera to the nearest beach instead. I'll probably add photos from my ski/surf trips, and you guys have seen some of them, but.. need something to do besides work for two seconds. Enjoy?

Honestly.. I keep enjoying browsing everyone's photo threads, so I figured I'd contribute.

This is Montana De Oro State Park - several beaches and tide pools... this one's the most accessible, so I went there this afternoon. It's a tourist beach, not a surfing beach.. though there's a surf spot nearby. This is less than 10 minutes away from my house.

First off - obligatory Moon shot.

But... in this shot, something's being launched nearby. Not a surprise, as Vandenberg AFB is always launching missiles/etc.
I honestly didn't even see this when taking the pic, so.. it could be a spec of dust for all I know..

Fun shot of a channel - if I stayed out there 20 minutes longer, I would've been swimming to shore. A National Geographic Photographer (George Lepp) lives in the area, and takes photos out here pretty often.

This is a pic of the jetty I was walking on, further out... the little nooks would be full of sealife when the tide's higher, earlier in the day.

The Sun!! Plus I liked the small family I caught in the pic, also.

This is at a small beach down the street from my house; this boat never moves.

A friend's Hobie Cat, and a setting Sun.

Finally.. a Seagull I yelled at until he looked directly at me, and I caught it on film.

Me... and Morro Rock in the background; the Rock's taller than the smokestacks at the nearby power plant.
You can walk all the way out onto that jetty, and sometimes the waves hit over 15 feet if you hit it at the right time of year; it's great.

Probably hittin' Big Sur with buds again soon, so I'll get more pics there.
Ugh.. there's some gorgeous wooded areas of California, but damn do I miss the Northwest; easily my favorite place of residence, even over Hawaii.
Seasons rock, but 90% of California has only "sunny" and "sunny with a morning chill". Bah.

Thanks, Paul.

I took these around 5 pm yesterday, so most people had packed it in by then. There's plenty of beaches around here with babes at them, and there's even a nude beach (Pirate's Cove, next to Avila Beach) , but the scenery's all sand and surf at a good portion of them, no rock outcroppings, etc.

I'll hit up Cayucos beach with my camera, which has a little of everything, later this week. Gotta go there anyways, since a friend of mine and myself have a weekly Hold 'Em game at a cardroom there.

If I was still living in Oregon, I'd be taking pictures of the rivers and the snowfall right now. .. though the beachtown of Florence was only an hour's drive from where I lived.

So do you live in the Slo area? I live in Lompoc.

In your one picture looks like a jet. I work all launches at Vandenberg and we didn't have one yesterday. But still a cool photo.

Thanks!

Yup.. I live in Los Osos. Wow.. someone on SF who lives "near" me? Amazing.

Yeah, must be a jet, then.. I didn't see it when taking the pic. Usually the missiles seem to leave more of a trail, I think.

I'm a Navy brat, so I go to Vandenberg for the no sales tax/etc shopping pretty often. You in the USAF?

Some really great shots there Ryan. That photo of the palm tree evokes an almost surreal mood in me.
