Giving that the smoke trail is somewhat flexible (even in the slightest), it is prone to happen. Unfortunately I am sure it will happen to a lot.

Checked up mine today. Last weeks i had 30 degree and up to 70 percent humidity. But all seems to be fine. First pic is from march. I tried to get that same angle again.
  
As i assembled the Statue together there was a little indentation in the cloud where the foot could rest and as it seems it's still on the same place.

The issue could be as simple as a bad batch got out of the factory...

Mine is doing great also, I have her in a climate controlled office with no direct sunlight and she is holding up great.
