Weatering techniques

I wanna buy this Obi saber from Parksabers



and then turn it into this one from MR.



So I need some weathering techniques. Any ideas or suggestions?

Sorry I'm no pro painter or anything so take this or leave it, but I think inks would be the way to go. Maybe stippling on watered down brown/black as an alternative.

Google weathering tanks, you will find loads of usefull stuff that will work on the lighsaber

This is my custom weathered Kenobi hilt.
I used Sophisticaed Finishes antiquing solutions for the rust (which is actually real rust). Then for the aluminum use Birchwood Casey Aluminum Black & Gun Blue. Plus, I used some black acrylic paints to add some final touches.

Wow that turned out really nice! Only thing that stands out to me is the middle chrome section. Seams it's a bit more tarnished in the reference you posted. Everything else is spot on though

Thanks! I tried to make it look exactly like the original. That's the best I could do from looking at pics. MRs version is much more clean than the original.
