Isn't that sort of thing common? He may or may not have borrowed a pose. I see it all the time in comics.

Assuming its even the case I guess using another's artwork as inspiration is considered "tracing" now? I wasn't aware artists were trademarking poses and shading techniques now.

That Prometheus print is awesome. I've got a few already, but I really like that.

I think its pretty clear that he didn't just use the pose as inspiration. He copied it. Heck the face is exactly the same.

If I was Tim Bradstreet I'd be bothered by it.

Oh there is no denying the similarities but if I were Bradstreet I don't think I'd be bothered by it, I'd actually be flattered. If Manev was drawing the Punisher then yeah, I could see being bothered.

I guess I just don't see why people are so up in arms about it when this kind of thing goes on all the time in several mediums, including comics. When people are okay with it they call it an "homage" or "imitation" but when they're not they call it "copying" or "tracing." Either way the practice is prevelannt but I think a lot of times it just goes unnoticed.

Lifting an example posted by someone on EB that I think illustrates how elements of one artist's work are often copied/imitated in another's art. If Manev is going to be called out then why not call him out, and Moss too for that matter, for using this? To me taking using the exact same imagery on your artwork for the exact same material is much worse. Yet nobody seems to be bothered by that.

ONE OF THE OFFICIAL LOTR PROMO POSTERS...

Manev

i don't know. the lotr manev even has the same blades of grass as the official poster. i think the reusing of images is such a cop out. seeing how two of manevs prints came from basically someone else's work makes me glad i got rid of his stuff. thats not good for the hobby.
