Yeah, directly behind me in line; or.. I'll just subvert the line entirely and "chat it up" with them on the sidelines, mentioning my commission intentions, and getting them to sign on.

Worked with Aaron Lopresti and Mark Brooks; I only regret that the Mark Brooks ploy wasn't for myself, but for a kid I suggested the tactic to. Aaron Lopresti draws a great Caiera, and apparently.. nobody else was asking for her in '08. Morons.

The crux of the matter is this; I help out where I can to bring in guests for the Kansas City show, Planet Comicon. The show has been growing steadily and the art talent coming is growing along with it. My observations are though; the art collecting community does not really turn out for the show. There are collectors there in attendance. Some guys I know are local and I see every year, some of whom are on this board. There just doesn’t seem to be as many as I find at other shows of comparable size. I see few sketchbook toting collectors and it is rare for an artist to fill their list to capacity. The show attracts plenty of people looking to meet celebrities and people with comics to be signed so the information is out there, maybe just not reaching the right people?

Now, Kansas City is not exactly a vacation destination, but it is fairly economical. Being central US it is an easy and often affordable flight. The hotels are normally under $100 per night on the con rate and there is food of any price point readily available. Also the passes for the show itself are very inexpensive.
what was your guest list this year?
