The final haul of the year - December 31, 2014

Nothing for me on Diamond's small list for this week, but the shops around here are having end-of-year sales. Time to catch up on some Alan Moore:

Miracleman vol 2: The Red King Syndrome hc
Fashion Beast hc
Nemo vol 2: The Roses of Berlin hc

Tracked down a Darwyn Cooke Flash #37 cover. I fell for these variants hook-line-and-sinker, buying all 23 Cooke' covers this month. Still, mildly annoyed that with these covers, DC seems to be celebrating a DC universe that's completely dead now. Cooke's nostalgic way with his art represented on these gorgeous covers is for a company that hasn't had stories like the covers represent in 30 years.

Here's a link to them all -

Wow, those are great! I wasn't aware he'd done this.

Thanks for the link.

That's why I decided to pass but damn it was hard because I LOVE Darwyn Cooke's art.

Maybe later we'll get a Portafolio gallery of this in the road.

LCS having a 20% off, New Year's sale, so I scored a couple trades that caught my eye.

1st off - The Essential Warren Years, Volume One, Vampirella collection. Read thru most of it, and gotta say, I'm not too impressed. Vampirella's one of those characters for me that I wanna love, & stylistically, she's riveting, but her stories, even all the post 80's stuff, are always kinda lame. These late 60's & 70's pieces are just all right at most.

2ndly - Eerie Presents Hunter. Collecting a lot of stories pertaining to the post-apocalyptic, Eerie character Hunter, whom I'd never even heard of, this hdbk is pretty cool. Choppy though, because the Hunter stories were never more than 13 pages originally. I'm a sucker for any ruined-earth type stories & Hunter satisfies. It has that 70's grit & violence which I love.
