Other forums.
You know, there are times where even I have to ask myself why I post certain things in the General Discussion sub-section of the forum rather than going to a more appropriate site.
Well, one answer is that after a few years here, I actually respect the opinions of the membership here. While no site is perfect, in general, Statue Forum is one of the best moderated and "mature" sites I have encountered.
Here is an example of what I'm talking about from this new Army forum I just started posting on. I'm trying to take the high road but this individual isn't making it easy.

Haha, nice one!
SF is the only forum/discussion group/newsgroup/ whatever that I've ever stuck with.
For one, the mods clearly set the rules for civil behavior and enforce it.
The SF members do act more mature than those elsewhere and follow the rules, for the most part.
I've met some great folks through this site, but I'd never have been inclined to meet folks through other forums.
This forum actually provides worthwhile information on a variety of topics (though they are somewhat related).
SF4EVER!

The link won't display the thread!
But I know exactly what you mean!

The thread must have been deleted.
Essentially, it was a another new member asking a question, I answered, and a senior member blasting him for not using the search function and for asking a question that has already been answered.

yeah i can't stand when people do crap like that, or every time somebody posts something in a particular section they have to reply with "wrong forum"

when i first started posting here that happened to me a couple of times. there was always a 'wannabe mod' trying to put me down and make me look stupid. most members were really cool though, which is why i have stayed.

I work at a Hobby/Comic store and use this site professionally. I am constantly referring customers to Painters and Sculptors corners for fine tuned advice, those 2 being just an example.

Well....it is a CANADIAN army site....
Seriously though, this place is more user friendly than most due to the majority of the regular posters being nice people to begin with.

A lot of forums out there are nothing more than compilations of cuss words.
Here you actually get to talk to another human.
