The guy should start calling Aspen every day along with all the other folks Ale has ripped off. Trust me, you start contacting his place of employment, those commissions will get done REALLY fast.

I recently got a commission from an artist that I waited about 10 months for. Originally the artist said it would only take a "couple of weeks". He got all offended when, 9 months in, I suggested that he might be trying to stiff me. Imagine that...

I guess you won't be asking Spencer Beck for a Perez piece.

I won't lay out money in advance for a commission period. They want my money a whole lot more than I want their art. They do the job, they get paid, otherwise they can look somewhere else for their next meal.

Another good idea ... and now that I am over the year mark waiting I am going to be much less likely to pay in advance

so how did it work out? Were you happy with the piece? Did he get it out pretty quickly once you questioned him?

The art is nice. Still took him over a month after I "insulted" him before he sent the piece. Thing is he had it completely done in November and didn't send it until March. It was excuse after excuse as to why he couldn't send it. Then he kept telling me he mailed it and it got returned (3 times no less!). Riiiight...
