Actually, the partents shoud sue the gum company, as there was no warning on the label to NOT put a wad of gum on a 1.5 million dollar painting!

That's despicable. Kids that age should know right from wrong. The school director should have known better than to give a cop out statement. People, kids included, should be held responsible for their own actions and receive repercussions for their improper behaviors.

I see your point, but what happened to personal responsibility? So if someone has something of value it's up to the person who owns it to protect it from those who go out of their way to damage it. I'm not talking an accident, but someone intending to damage an item. I've held comic art in my hands worth thousands that I didn't own, if I ripped it up I can say "HA, that'll teach you, not my fault".
