Yes, because his round shield is both defensive and an offensive projectile. With the kite shield he doesn't really have any ranged offense without the rifle.
So Round shield + fist or fingers.
Kite shield + rifle

I would be surprised to see this statue this year. A release of batch 1 end of November, shipping to Europe, holiday shipping madness begun... We'll see, but I think this will be the first statue arriving in 2015.

the gun does look cool, people freaked out when it was first previewed because cap never uses a gun - but just cause hes holding one doesn't mean hes shot anyone with it. he used a gun (or at least held one) on both the first cap movie and avengers, it seems logical he may use one to keep enemies at bay without harming them

I see it as him having picked the weapon up off a fellow soldier then leading the troops over the next hill. Likely wouldn't need to ever use it but I think in the moment you'd likely find yourself reaching for it. Plus, it helps serve as that link between the regular infantry and Cap (ie. the enemy is such a threat that Cap requires that weapon as much as your standard soldier did)
