And I see the Silvestri cover is $50. Damn I already bought it months ago for $62.

I had mixed feelings on it. The crux of his run, the event which leads to Secret Wars, was intriguing. It sets the heroes up in a seemingly no win situation. Putting those characters in that situation was a fascinating experiment: to what lengths would you go to save the universe?

However, it tends to meander at times so the series runs hot and cold. I really liked his New Avengers run because it focused on the conflict between Namor/Atlantis and Black Panther/Wakanda. It was more personal and character driven.

So the high concept stuff in Avengers was excellent (typical Hickman) and the man vs man in New Avengers was fun to watch unfold. It's worth a read but I didn't find it to be a nice complete package like his FF run was. It felt a little more bloated.

my two cents

Couldn?t stand it. Boring as hell. Too much navel gazing in the dialogue.

I loved it. Combined with Hickman's Fantastic Four omnibus and the conclusion in the Secret Wars hardcover, it was one of the grandest epics ever told for me. However, I wouldn't necessarily recommend it unless you like Hickman's writing. And apparently you've already made your decision so that's probably best.
