The most I paid was $425 for an Adam Hughes con sketch on the secondary market. It was an absolute steal of a deal and is one of my favorite original pieces of art. I’ll track down a pic and post it at some point.

I paid $2500 ea. for my Timm superman and for my Timm batman. Bruce has refused to draw either of them for years, but he did them for me at double his rate at that time. I love the art, but paying that much for a commission is definitely in my past.

I think after shipping and fees from Argentina, the Risso piece I recently posted was my most expensive, about 1500. I'm delighted with it though, so I didn't mind paying it.

I've gotten three other commissions at $1000, and am happy with two of them (Ed McGuinness and Mike Allred, I highly recommend them both!). I don't want to mention the other piece, just because I think I wasn't clear enough with what I was looking for. I would definitely try again with that artist, just not anytime soon.

In the meantime, I basically limit myself to 1 big piece like that a year, if I find the artist I'm looking for and think it might be worth it. If not, I keep looking. I would go higher than Risso for a full blown piece from Arthur Adams, but I think that might be my cap, and something I save up several years for.

Here are the 3 commissions that I paid the most for and I'm glad I did. With Byrne and Perez, for me, it was worth it.

I still from time to time look through the post here about the Perez commissions.

Love those commissions-especially the 2nd and 3rd ones. They would definitely be worth the money

Those are amazing commissions. Well worth the price of admittance. I wish I had had JB do a piece for me. Maybe some day! Thanks for sharing!

I'm trying to think if I have ever paid more than I just paid for my new David Yardin commission? Clearly if I paid more than $1K I can't remember.

I just received my Storm commission in the mail and it is amazing in person. So beautiful and I can't wait to get it framed up
