I'm not too sure about the Black Widow movie, from the trailers it looks like it's about 3 sisters and an overweight father who's not too bright... It seems there trying to cater to a female audience that doesn't seem to exist for these types of movies...

I hope I'm wrong as I am a fan of both Scarlett Johansson and her character Black Widow...

The bottom line was, this was a female created movie targeted to a female audience, the problem is females just didn't show up... 57% of the audience was guys... Robbie even said this in an interview they were targeting a female audience, so it is what it is...
Wait from the DVD/Blu-ray/Steaming sales to roll in
..a lot of people don't bother with cinema these days.

I am that person. I got to the cinema once every 2 years

I'm still not sure that the "sisters" are biological. They could all be orphans that were taught to view each other as "sisters" in the KGB Widow program.

Your post is pretty dismissive of a movie that from the trailers look 85% better than BoP. And I don't think it's catering to a female audience. It's catering to people who enjoyed the character of Black Widow who had an interesting history mentioned throughout 10 years of the MCU.

The timing of the release pushes people to think this is "girl power", but I don't see it as that. I see it as them extending the cash cow of the Avengers franchise with a very popular character. Hawkeye is getting a show instead of a movie because it will play better (Fiege stated this). I'm sure it was batted around to make BW a TV show and they felt it would play better as a movie. I trust the Mouse House with this. Even with their worst releases (hi Iron Man 3 and Thor 2) they aren't bottom of the barrel.

Well.....ok....IM3 is floating above the bottom of the barrel
