I get this is Spiderman after all, but as past Marvel have shown it's completely doable to create a serious movie with an engaging story but with enough charm to appeal to a younger audience. This one however just felt like a sloppy mess with a shiny coat of polish over it.

5/10, definitely a rental but by no means worthy of going to the theater to see. If the mish mosh of villains in this is any indication of where this series is headed I expect the Sinister Six movie to be the X-Men 3/original Spiderman 3 of this trilogy.....complete and total garbage.
Didn't care or even wanted to go see this in the theater after all the ----ty reviews it got. I sat on renting this thing for the longest time, so my wife and I didn't really have anything else to watch and decided, screw it, and that we might as well try to sit through this. This guy's review gets it right. It reflects exactly what I saw last night. It was just as bad as the McGuire Spider-Man 3. I can't believe they're thinking of making two more after this one. The Winter Soldier was extremely, extremely better than this.

A rumor has it that Emma Stone could return as Gwen Stacy in a sequel or spinoff.

agreed, why not just introduce Mary Jane into the picture now? that would be the best thing to do. and was actually what i was expecting..

and disaster would be an understatement MM.
